Status: Completed - 2016, Completed - 2018
Client: City of Lahti
Scope: Architecture, Landscape

Lahti Travel Center is located in the transport interchange of the city next to the 1930s railway station.  With the new travel center, the city is investing in the wellbeing of its residents by building improved traffic infrastructure and by raising the city’s profile.

The landscaped center consists of a 60-meter long canopy for the bus terminal, a lift shaft and an underground road tunnel. The structures are built with perforated copper, structural glass and incorporate an integrated lighting system.

The choice of copper is timeless and strong, making the travel center a distinctly public building.  The imaginative use of ceiling lighting introduces a contemporary pattern to the design as well as a sense of warmth.
